This holiday season, let’s make sure our neighbors can keep the lights on.
For many Flagler County families, the holidays come with an impossible choice: pay the utility bill or pay for other essentials. The latest ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) data shows that 34% of Flagler County households are working but still struggling to afford the basics, while another 10% live in poverty. That means 44% of local households are living below the ALICE Threshold.
Flagler Cares’ Keep the Holiday Lights On campaign gives our community a simple way to help. We’re raising enough to provide $100 in utility assistance to 100 local households this December—helping families and seniors keep their electric or water service on and giving them a little breathing room during the holiday season.
Sponsor a Home for $100
A $100 donation sponsors one home and directly helps a local household facing financial hardship.
But you don’t have to give $100 to make a difference. Every dollar brings us closer to lighting up 100 homes.
Our goal is to have all 100 homes sponsored by November 30.
Donations can be made online through PayPal or Zeffy. We prefer Zeffy because it does not charge Flagler Cares processing fees (or you!)

Below, you’ll see 100 homes waiting to be lit. Every time $100 is donated, another home will go from dark to illuminated with holiday lights.
As the homes light up, you’ll be able to see our community coming together—100 homes, 100 families, and 100 reasons to believe that neighbors helping neighbors can make a difference.
Flagler families experiencing financial hardship may apply for assistance beginning December 1, 2026 right here on this page.
Applications will be reviewed based on financial need and reported hardship on a first-come, first-served basis, while funds are available.
And the support doesn’t end with a utility payment. Everyone who applies will be connected with Flagler Cares’ Partnered for Success Program and other appropriate resources, providing an opportunity to address the challenges contributing to financial hardship and connect with ongoing care and support.
